How to Set New Year’s Resolution 2023 | Black Therapist NJ

Here we go, again! Another year, another list of new year’s resolutions list.

Well here’s a reality check, you can set a goal to become who and how you want to be whenever you like so don’t wait til January to get excited and then by the time February comes along, all the magic fades away.

Just in case no one told you, you’re “magical” all the time and you can do, become, and are everything you ever desired to be. You just have to tap in. You’re probably reading this like this is some bull, unicorn and rainbows type stuff to get you motivated and hyped up, but it’s not. It’s the absolute truth, but I am going to have to keep it real with you…

Here are some ways to set your new year’s resolution 2023

  • Set goals whenever you like, don’t wait for January

  • Set short-term realistic goals that are specific, measurable, and with a deadline

  • Once you have your goals, now write what you need to do each week to achieve them, then break that list down to daily tasks (now you’re developing a system, yes!)

  • Be consistent with working on your goals- take time every day even if it’s just for a little bit to do something (every step matters)

  • Get an accountability partner, having someone that can hold you accountable for working towards your goals can be helpful

  • Take action ASAP, action speaks louder than words, you have goals to accomplish remember

  • Get a mentor or someone who has experience in the area you’re working towards. This can be a course, a person online that you follow or joined their community or an actual coach that you pay to help you along your journey. You can progress quickly and avoid costly mistakes with a mentor or coach.

  • Last, but not least, Let this be the year that you go to therapy to get healthier, deal with some old unresolved stuff that continues to get in your way, and finally heal. It may seem scary at first and you may get anxiety about it, but it will be worth your while and you’re worth getting help for. Do it for you!
